The big box office wars featuring the two titans - ‘War 2’ starring
Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, and ‘Coolie,’ headlined by
Rajinikanth, continued to keep the audience entertained over the weekend. Both films were released on August 14, 2025, and have been giving each other tough competition from day one. The movies completed their 11-day theatrical run on Sunday, each benefiting from the weekend surge. However, while ‘War 2’ managed to cross the Rs. 220 crore mark at the domestic market, ‘Coolie 2’ minted over Rs. 250 crore in the second weekend.

According to Sacnilk, on day 11, i.e, its second Sunday, the movie collected Rs 6.50 crore (early estimate) across all languages in India, making the total of ‘War 2’ reach Rs 221 cr in the domestic market.
Although the movie began its second weekend with a 20 percent drop. Trade reports show that on Friday, the movie made Rs 4 crore in India, of which Rs 3.35 crore came from Hindi, Rs 0.05 crore from Tamil, and Rs 0.6 crore from Telugu. However, on Saturday, the number game changed and the movie’s collection saw a rise of over 50 per cent, adding Rs. 6.25 crore to the tally. In this, the collection from Hindi was Rs 5.4 crore, Tamil Rs 0.1 crore, and Telugu Rs 0.75 crore.

Competition from ‘Coolie’
Though ‘War 2’ is performing well at the box office, one can’t help to wonder what if it had been the solo release? The competition from Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ has certainly impacted the numbers of ‘War 2.’ It stayed ahead in the box office game by earning over Rs 10 crore on Sunday and taking its total to Rs 256.75.
