’ recorded an impressive opening at the box office in India amid positive reviews. The film featuring actress Gal Gadot in the titular role, released only in English and collected Rs 2.50 crore nett on the day of its release, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.

‘Wonder Woman’ is based on the

DC Comics

character of the same name and is the fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe. The film takes off with American pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crashing on the island of Themyscira where he tells Diana Prince about the fatal World War I. How she leaves her safety behind to fight for the people and stop the deadly war is the crux of the story.

Loaded with nail-biting action and gravity-defying stunts, ‘Wonder Woman’ is a welcome delight in the world of male superheroes. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film is also the first superhero film to be directed by a woman. The release of the film coincided with the release of another Hollywood film ‘Baywatch’ starring Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra, Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
