Ajay Devgn's '
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior
' completes
two years
today. Helmed by
Om Raut, the film starred Kajol,
Saif Ali Khan,
Sharad Kelkar,
Neha Sharma and
Elakshi Gupta
in pivotal roles. As the film clocked two years today, ETimes got in touch with Elakshi, who made her big Bollywood debut with Ajay's 100th film.
When we asked her about her debut film, Gupta said, ''I am extremely grateful for 'Tanhaji'. I will always be thankful for the casting and the team. It was a big stepping stone for me towards my goal.''
She further added, ''I am an Endodontist by profession. I started with modelling and had no one to guide me. For me, to play the wife of
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the movie was big as it was the first achievement. I think I lived my dream of working in a period movie. I would love to play more such characters with longer screen time in future. This movie gave me one Bollywood and one Marathi movie where I got a chance to play the lead actress.''
When we quizzed her to sum up her last two years in the industry, she stated, ''The last two years were very tough for all of us. Just after the release of 'Tanhaji', we went under lockdown. But for me, I got my first Bollywood movie 'Luv u Shankar' as a lead role immediately after the first lockdown in September. I am very grateful to 'Tanhaji' as it’s because of this I got the lead role. The journey from a dentist to model and then to an actor. For me, January 10, 2020, was the turning point and it’s been two years now. I am very grateful and looking forward to working again with Ajay Devgn production and the team.''
