The 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) came to a memorable close on Monday at a star-studded evening graced by international and national film personalities such as Akshay Kumar, Chiranjeevi, Asha Parekh, Rana Daggubati, Ayushmann Khurrana and Fauda actor Lior Raz.

Spanish film I Have Electric Dreams went home with two coveted awards – Best Film and Best Actor (Female) for Daniela Marín Navarro. The other film to make a big splash was the Iranian film No End, which bagged the Best Director and Best Actor (Male) awards for Nader Saeivar and Vahid Mobasheri, respectively.

“After watching Fauda, I can say here is the moment to form a partnership with our Israeli counterparts,” said I&B Minister Anurag Thakur, who was seen on the red carpet with Lior Raz.

Chiranjeevi was conferred with the Indian Film Personality of the Year award. “I promise you, I will never leave this industry, I will forever be in your heart,” he said

“India is on course to becoming a superpower. The maximum number of films are made in India and our films are produced in most languages. Thank you to IFFI, for the way they have taken our movies to a global audience,” Akshay Kumar said at the closing ceremony
