'83 to Draupadi: FIVE upcoming films of Deepika Padukone that promise a good dose of entertainment

Deepika Padukone is all set to enthrall her fans with five power-packed performances in the pipeline. The actress has worked out an entertaining slate with totally different subjects, engaging stories and promising acts. From joining forces with husband Ranveer Singh for the first time after marriage to producing a cinematic extravaganza based on ‘The Mahabharat’ – here’s taking a look at all that Deepika has in store for her fans.

Deepika Padukone will transform from being Ranveer Singh’s real life wife to his reel life partner in ’83. The sports drama features Ranveer as Kapil Dev while DP will essay his wife Romi Dev. “I am so glad that Kabir (director Kabir Khan) came to me with it. I can’t think of anyone else who could do justice to the role (of Kapil Dev), but if there was someone else playing him in the film, and not Ranveer, I would still do my part. This isn’t coming from a personal equation, but from my passion and enthusiasm for the film,” Deepika had told ETimes in an interview.

Deepika Padukone was all set to start shooting for Shakun Batra's next with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday but the lockdown was imposed. The film is reportedly about relationships in the modern world. Speaking about the venture, Deepika had earlier told Mumbai Mirror, “I am a big fan of Shakun’s work. He is beautiful when it comes to dealing with interpersonal relationships. This is a story about two couples and creatively, I was looking forward to doing something in this space.”

Deepika Padukone will be seen essaying the protagonist Draupadi in a film that is currently being scripted and will be a mythological drama based on ‘Mahabharat’. Deepika is collaborating with filmmaker Madhu Mantena for this lavishly mounted film, which could be made in two or more parts. “I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to be essaying the role of Draupadi. I truly believe that it is the role of a lifetime,” an excited Deepika had told Mumbai Mirror. The first part of the visual extravaganza is reportedly slated for Diwali 2021.

In a fresh pairing, it was recently announced that Deepika Padukone has been roped in as the leading lady opposite Prabhas in a futuristic sci-fi drama. This untitled venture will be helmed by ‘Mahanti’ fame director Nag Ashwin. "Beyond Thrilled! Cannot wait for what we believe is going to be an incredible journey,” Deepika had expressed her excitement for this venture on social media. Director Nag Ashwin had shared, “The pairing of Deepika and Prabhas will be one of the main highlights of the film and the story between them, I believe will be something audiences will carry in their hearts for years to come.”

Deepika Padukone had announced to play the lead in the Hindi version of Hollywood film ‘The Intern’. After shooting for Shakun Batra’s film, DP plans to get working with the remake, a source quoted by Mumbai Mirror had revealed, “Deepika wants to explore all kinds of films and pick roles that will resonate with the audience and leave an impact. The first film she will kick off after this forced break is Shakun’s untitled film, followed by the official adaptation of Hollywood hit, The Intern.” The film narrates the story of a 70-year-old widower who, bored of a retired life, accepts to become an intern at a website.
