A stellar lineup of veteran actors in Delhi
Recently, the fourth edition of the Delhi Theatre Festival returned after a gap of three years to present a stellar line up of plays featuring veteran actors including Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Piyush Mishra and Shabana Azmi.
Shekhar Suman's play Ek Haan,Pankaj Kapoor’s Dopehri, Lillette Dubey's Vodka and No Tonic, Rajat Kapoor’s Nothing Like Lear, a one-act play by Vinay Pathak, were also staged during the festival. Piyush Mishra performed Ballimaaran in Delhi and Gurgaon.
Set in the backdrop of Lucknow, 'Dopehri' is story of the life of Amma Bi, a 65-year-old widow, who lives alone in a haveli. With her son living overseas, Amma Bi's only companions are her servant Jumman, and occasionally, family friend Saxena Saheb. The play explores themes like isolation, optimism.

The festival opened with Naseeruddin Shah's Ismat Aapa ke Naam at Siri Fort. The play directed by veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah starred Ratna Pathak Shah and Heeba Shah.Lillette Dubey performed Vodka and No Tonic in Delhi which is based on stories from “Lockdown Liaisons” by Shobhaa De
Most shows were sold out.

Vinay Pathak's King Lear is a contemporary take on father-daughter relationship.The play is directed by filmmaker, theatre director and actor Rajat Kapoor.
