Aamir Khan confirms ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ release date; says film is about 'mental health in many ways'

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has officially confirmed the release date for his much-awaited film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’.

Speaking in an interview with Pinkvilla, Aamir revealed that the film will hit theatres on June 20, 2025. He also opened up about the film’s central theme, saying, “It is about mental health in many ways,” raising expectations for another emotionally powerful story.

Aamir Khan recently confirmed that his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, will be released on June 20. Directed by RS Prasanna, this movie is being positioned as a spiritual successor to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, which sensitively addressed the struggles of a child with dyslexia. Fans have eagerly anticipated this new project, which continues Aamir's focus on impactful social themes.

A deeper focus on mental health and inclusivity

While ‘Taare Zameen Par’ tackled learning disorders, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ broadens its scope by exploring themes of mental health and inclusivity through a more light-hearted, humorous narrative. Aamir’s daughter, Ira Khan, briefly chimed in during the conversation, mentioning “neurodivergent peer support,” further hinting at the inclusive message the film aims to promote. Aamir stressed that viewers would understand the film’s emotional depth once they see his character on screen.

Cast and inspirations
The film will see Aamir Khan reunite with ‘Taare Zameen Par’ actor Darsheel Safary, alongside Genelia Deshmukh in key roles. Interestingly, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ draws inspiration from the acclaimed 2018 Spanish film Champions which is directed by Javier Fesser and released in the year 2018.
