Aamir Khan has taken a groundbreaking step in making his latest film widely accessible by choosing to release 'Sitaare Zameen Par' on YouTube movies-on-demand right after its theatrical release. The innovative approach allows audiences worldwide to watch the film at an affordable price. Notably, the movie will be available exclusively on YouTube and will not appear on any other digital platform, marking a new era in global film distribution.

The actor has revealed that his highly successful film 'Sitaare Zameen Par' will have a worldwide digital release on YouTube starting August 1, 2025. The pioneering distribution strategy allows audiences to watch the heartfelt family drama—featuring Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh, and a remarkable cast including ten actors with intellectual disabilities—directly from home. The film will be priced at Rs. 100 in India and will be accessible in 38 other countries, such as the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Spain, with region-specific pricing tailored for each market.

A spiritual successor celebrating love, joy, and diversity

Khan’s film 'Sitaare Zameen Par', touted as a spiritual follow-up to the 2007 hit 'Taare Zameen Par', highlights themes of love, joy, and embracing diversity. The movie has resonated with viewers, surpassing ₹250 crore globally. Now, viewers can enjoy the film by renting it, allowing everyone to turn their personal screens into a cinema-like experience.

Commenting on the launch, actor-producer Aamir Khan stated, "For the past 15 years I have been struggling with the challenge of how to reach audiences who do not have geographical access to theatres, or those who are unable to make it to theatres for various reasons. Finally the time for the perfect storm has come. With our government bringing in UPI and India becoming no 1 in the world in electronic payments, with internet penetration in India having grown dramatically and growing everyday, and with YouTube being on most devices, we can finally reach vast sections of people in India, and a significant part of the world. My dream is that Cinema should reach everyone at a reasonable and affordable price. I want people to have the ease of watching Cinema when they want, where they want. If this idea works, Creative voices can tell different stories breaking geographical and other barriers. This will also be a great opportunity for younger creative people entering the field of Cinema. If this idea works, then I see this as a win-win for all.”
