Aamir Khan says divorce didn't affect his relationship with ex-wife Kiran Rao: 'We felt the split happened organically'

Aamir Khan got married to Kiran Rao in 2005 and they announced their separation in 2021. Earlier, the actor was married to Reena Dutt with whom he has two kids - Ira and Junaid. Aamir has always believed in being extremely honest about his life and this time around as well, both Aamir and Kiran haven't shied away from speaking about their relationship. They continue to remain friends and share a great working rapport, which was evident as Aamir produced Kiran's directorial 'Laapataa Ladies'. The actor has been showering immense praise for Kiran's work. In a recent interview, Aamir spoke about their divorce and how it did not affect their relationship.

The actor said during a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, "Divorce did not affect our relationship — whether it was professionally or personally. I think we felt (the split) happened organically. Divorce is a word that implies you are leaving, you are moving away. We were moving away as husband and wife, but we were not moving away as human beings. So I don’t think that also caused any problems (in their working relationship)"

Kiran also accompanied Aamir in this chat. The duo also spoke about their professional collaborations and creative bonding. Aamir expressed, "The thing is that divorce is a separate topic. As creative people, we gel very well and we like each other’s minds and we trust each other’s minds. I guess that’s why we work very well, our sensibilities are similar." Kiran agreed and further added, "We respect each other’s opinions. I think that’s one of the reasons the partnership lasted."

On work front, Aamir will be seen next in 'Sitaare Zameen Par', after his long break which he took post 'Laal Singh Chaddha'.
