Aamir Khan steps down from production role; names Aparna Purohit as new CEO
Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s production banner has backed some of the most successful and out-of-the-box projects in the Hindi film industry. Recently, the ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ actor has decided to make an important change in his career. He will be stepping down from his role at the company.
The 60-year-old actor seems to have decided to focus more on acting. Aamir Khan explained that Aparna Purohit will handle everything at the production house. “Aparna is highly capable of handling the entire production house on her own,” he said. He added that he will be there if needed, but he wants her to run the company independently.
Aamir Khan also shared that all projects greenlit before she came on board will be released in 2026. These include Vir Das’ directorial debut film ‘Happy Patel’, in which he also starred in the lead role, ‘Ek Din’ starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi. The film will hit theatres on May 1 and also ‘Lahore 1947’. The ‘3 Idiots’ actor said he is excited about reading new stories and thinking about what to do next as an actor.

Speaking about Aparna Purohit, she has a strong background in films and content. She studied journalism at Lady Shri Ram College and mass communication at Jamia Millia Islamia. She started her career as a line producer at UTV Motion Pictures. Later, she worked with BIG Pictures and Reliance Big Entertainment.
