Actor Pankaj Jha takes a dig at Anurag Kashyap and Pankaj Tripathi over 'Gangs of Wasseypur' issue: 'I don't care about politics happening behind me'
Pankaj Jha made headlines after he said that actors like Pankaj Tripathi are glamorizing their struggles, such as “stealing another actor’s slippers.” A few days ago, he made another comment about people who play politics to hurt him.
In a recent interview with Digital Commentary, Jha said that he is not bothered by the politics happening behind his back. He mentioned that the person who plays politics only wins if it hurts Jha. He called such backstabbing people cowards.
Jha was reportedly approached by director Anurag Kashyap to play the role of Sultan Qureshi in the 2012 film ‘Gangs of Wasseypur.’ They had previously collaborated on ‘Black Friday’ and ‘Gulaal.’ However, the role in the 2012 movie went to Pankaj Tripathi, significantly impacting his career.
In a candid statement, Pankaj Jha criticized Anurag Kashyap, expressing his disdain for the film industry’s lack of integrity and commitment. He acknowledged that films like ‘Satya’ and ‘Gulaal’ have been instrumental in shaping actors and directors. However, Jha pointed out that many individuals in the industry lack courage and reliability. He highlighted an instance where Kashyap was in a difficult position and had no work, resulting in him taking on around 36 roles in a single project.
According to Jha, he was busy with a shoot in Patna when he received a message from Anurag asking for a meeting. He delayed it by two or three days to finish the shoot, but by that time, someone else had been cast for the role. Jha also shared that he still loves Anurag and has no complaints against anyone.
Pankaj Jha made his acting debut in 2001 with Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding. His latest comedy-drama series, ‘Panchayat 3,’ garnered decent reviews from fans.
