Adhyayan Suman reveals how a 'fake suicide' rumour left his parents traumatised: 'That day my phone was unreachable...'

Despite delivering memorable performances over the years, actor Adhyayan Suman has also battled personal and professional setbacks. His father, veteran actor Shekhar Suman, had previously revealed the phase during which Adhyayan struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts due to pressures within the industry.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Adhyayan opened up about one of the most disturbing experiences of his life: the circulation of fake news about his death in 2021.

“Probably my dad... That day I was busy in the studio, and my phone was unreachable. Can you imagine my parents? Seeing the news, ‘Adhyayan Suman commits suicide’—how do you react to a situation like that?” he recalled when asked about the fake news.


The actor went on to reveal that he had directly confronted the person behind the false report. Adhyayan expressed disbelief at how someone could do something so insensitive and said he may never know who was behind it or why it was done.

“I said, ‘Call this guy and ask him why he wants me to die—please ask him.’ And there was no answer. Like, ‘Aap kis context se baat kar rahe ho ki aapne uske bhai ko phone kiya, uski maa ko phone kiya poochhne ke liye ki aapka beta zinda hai ya mar gaya life mein? Kis hisaab se baat kar rahe ho usse?’ He had nothing to say,” he shared.

Family Left Traumatised by Viral Rumours

The false news, which began circulating online while Adhyayan was away on a shoot in Delhi, left his parents—Shekhar and Alka Suman—shocked and traumatised. The couple, who had already endured the pain of losing a child, were left reeling after hearing of their son's alleged demise.

The gravity of the situation led Adhyayan to call out media portals on social media for their irresponsible reporting. Shekhar Suman also stepped in, demanding accountability. He sought intervention from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the then Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, urging legal action against those responsible for spreading such misinformation.
