‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ turns 9: Karan Johar shares emotional tribute to his ‘most personal film’

‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ celebrated nine years since its theatrical release today. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, first hit cinemas on October 28, 2016. To mark this special occasion, director Karan Johar shared a heartfelt message on social media along with a collection of candid and behind-the-scenes moments from the making of his 2016 movie.

Taking to Instagram, Karan shared several pictures from the set of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. Accompanying the images, he expressed, "One year short of a decade and it honestly feels like yesterday when I was on set of perhaps the most personal film I have ever made…"




He further added, "I was thrilled to be doing what I do, with people who were just exceptional as artists - from the cast to the crew. My dil will never forget this!! Thank you for letting Ae Dil Hai Mushkil grow…for breathing life and love into it till now!!"


Star cast and box office success

In ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, Ranbir Kapoor took on the role of Ayan, with Anushka Sharma playing Alizeh, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Saba. Additionally, Shah Rukh Khan made a brief but memorable cameo appearance in the movie. The film also became the third-highest-grossing Hindi film of its release year.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Karan Johar is gearing up for his forthcoming film, with production expected to begin next year. The project’s details have yet to be announced.
