Smriti Mandhana had a whirlwind November. She played a key role in India winning the Women’s World Cup, but her personal life has seen ups and downs. The star cricketer was all set to marry musician and filmmaker Palash Muchhal on 23 November 2025. However, the wedding had to be postponed when her father, Shriniwas Mandhana, was hospitalised due to a heart-related issue. The ceremony is now officially called off.

Smriti Mandhana makes first appearance after wedding cancellation

On Wednesday, Smirti made her first public appearance since calling off her marriage. She attended an event alongside India captain Harmanpreet Kaur, where she opened up about her thought process. "I don't think I love anything more than cricket. Wearing that Indian jersey is the motivation that drives us. You keep all your problems aside, and that thought alone helps you focus on life,” Mandhana said at the event as quoted by the Mint.



Smriti Mandhana emphasises simplicity and behind the scenes work

“As a kid, the madness for batting was always there. No one understood it, but in my mind, I always wanted to be called a world champion," she said.She further added, “I have always been a very simple person. I don’t complicate my life with overthinking. And, one thing I believe is that, if you put a lot of work behind the scenes, because what happens on the ground, everyone looks at it and judges on that, but what I judge myself or the team is the work which we put behind the scenes.”

Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal confirm wedding cancellation

A few days ago, Smriti Mandhana and Palash both took to Instagram to confirm that the wedding had been called off. Smriti asked for privacy so she could focus on cricket. Palash later said he too had “decided to move on” and warned of legal action against those spreading false rumours about him. The couple also unfollowed each other on Instagram.
