Ajay Devgn reveals his father Veeru Devgan was only 13 years old when he ran away from home
Ajay Devgn recently shared the compelling life story of his late father, renowned action director Veeru Devgan, on the latest episode of ‘Koffee with Karan.’ In a candid conversation with the ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani’ director, Ajay revealed the challenging journey his father undertook, starting from running away from home in Punjab at the tender age of 13.
Veeru Devgan's initial struggles in Mumbai were marked by adversity, including being imprisoned for traveling without a train ticket. With no source of income or food, he found himself in dire circumstances. Ajay recounted that a person gave a helping hand to his father by giving him the job of washing his cab. He added his father was allowed to sleep in the very cab that he used to clean. Later, he was able to take up the job as a carpenter and then became a gangster in Sion Koliwada.
The turning point in Veeru Devgan's life occurred during a street fight, when he caught the attention of senior action director Ravi Khanna. Khanna, impressed by Veeru's fighting skills, offered him an opportunity. From here, his journey of eventually establishing himself as a respected figure in the film industry started.
