Akshay Kumar, Kartik Aaryan, Hrithik Roshan: Bollywood actors who backed out of promising projects

Akshay Kumar backing out of ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise came as a huge shock for fans. But in the past, there have been more instances when actors have left movies last minute or walked out of films due to different reasons. From Kartik Aaryan quitting ‘Dostana 2’ to Varun Dhawan leaving Arun Khetarpal's biopic… take a look at actors who have recently rejected promising projects.

Akshay Kumar – Hera Pheri 3

Akshay Kumar had recently confessed to walking out of the third instalment of ‘Hera Pheri’ series. The actor had revealed that he was not happy with the screenplay and script of the movie. His co-actor Suniel Shetty had told ETimes that he will speak to Akshay to return to the franchise. Interestingly, Kartik Aaryan is being roped in for ‘Hera Pheri 3’, but as a new character and he will not be replacing Akshay Kumar.

Parineeti Chopra – Animal

Parineeti Chopra is riding high on the success of her latest release ‘Uunchai’. Interestingly, the actress had dropped out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ to take up this Sooraj Barjatya entertainer. Parineeti had quit her role opposite Ranbir Kapoor, after reportedly signing on the dotted line. The makers then roped in Rashmika Mandanna to play the lead.

Kartik Aaryan – Dostana 2

After extensively shooting for this entertainer with Janhvi Kapoor, Kartik had exited the film. The makers have announced that due to ‘professional circumstances’, they shall recast ‘Dostana 2’ and preferred to remain silent over the controversy. Kartik Aaryan also refrained from commenting over his unceremonious exit from the film.

Varun Dhawan – Arun Khetarpal's biopic

Varun Dhawan was all set to essay the role of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal in a film that would be helmed by Sriram Raghavan. However, this year the actor revealed that he is not doing the film anymore. Explaining the reason behind the same, Varun told PTI, “I was dying to do that film but I don't think I can do it anymore because too many things have come up. I have begged him (Sriram) that he should make it with someone else. I might play some other part in it if I have to. My thing is, how do I play a 21-year-old now? I am conscious about that. I don't feel convinced. Sriram and I share an honest relationship with each other. But I'll still try to convince Sriram to make it because it's a story that needs to be told.”
