Alia Bhatt has officially kickstarted filming for 'Tumbbad 2', marking her first foray into the atmospheric horror genre. According to recent reports, Bhatt’s involvement isn't just a cameo; it’s a strategic performance designed to transition the story into a grand finale. The sequel’s scale is significantly larger than the 2018 original.According to Pinkvilla, while Sohum Shah remains the face of the franchise, the addition of Alia Bhatt adds a new layer of intrigue. Although her screen time is limited to a 20-day shooting schedule, her character is reportedly the catalyst for a major plot twist that concludes the second film. Additionally, her role isn't just a cameo; it is designed to spearhead the finale in 'Tumbbad 3', where she will take a lead position alongside Sohum Shah. Unlike the indie roots of the 2018 original, 'Tumbbad 2' is being mounted on a grand scale with a budget of Rs. 100 crore.The report further stated that joining the project was a simple choice for the 'Gully Boy' actress, who found the script so compelling that she didn't hesitate to sign on.The 'Hastar' mythology is set to return to the big screen on December 3, 2027.
