Alia Bhatt waves, Ranbir Kapoor flashes a thumbs-up in first public sighting of 2026 after New Year getaway

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor began 2026 on a calm and personal note. After welcoming the New Year at a private holiday destination, the couple returned to Mumbai and made their first public appearance together at the airport. The moment was brief, quiet, and refreshingly simple—yet it quickly caught attention online.

A quiet airport moment and look

As they stepped out of the terminal, the couple acknowledged the paparazzi waiting outside. Alia smiled softly and waved, while Ranbir followed with a relaxed smile and a thumbs-up.




Alia opted for comfort in her airport look. She wore a crisp white shirt and skipped accessories altogether. Black sunglasses and a neatly tied bun completed her fuss-free style. Known for his minimalist fashion sense, Ranbir Kapoor kept it casual in a T-shirt and cap, with a backpack slung over his shoulder and a pair of dark sunglasses.

New Year post

A few days earlier, Alia had shared a glimpse of their New Year celebration at home. The picture showed Ranbir lifting their daughter Raha in the air as Alia looked on warmly. She captioned the post, “& up you go love.. happy 2026,” and the image quickly became a fan favourite.

On the work front

The couple is set to reunite on screen in 'Love and War', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film also stars Vicky Kaushal and marks Ranbir’s reunion with Bhansali nearly 18 years after 'Saawariya' (2007).

Speaking about Bhansali during his birthday Instagram Live, Ranbir said, “Love & War is directed by the man who taught me everything about cinema.” He added, “Whatever I know about acting began with him. I worked with him 18 years ago, and now to work with him again, when he’s an even bigger master, is very special.”
