‘Alpha’: Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol's action entertainer moves release date to April 17; here's the reason

The highly-awaited action entertainer ‘Alpha’, led by Alia Bhatt, has now been pushed to April 17, 2026. The makers have confirmed that the decision comes after realising the film’s VFX needs more time to make it look visually stunning.

Makers shift Alpha release for visual perfection

The makers have confirmed that ‘Alpha’ will now arrive in cinemas on April 17, 2026, instead of its earlier release window of December 25, 2025. The film’s team explained that the delay will allow them to give audiences a truly jaw-dropping experience.


A YRF spokesperson said, “Alpha is an extremely special film for us and we want to present the film in its most cinematic self. We have realised that the VFX will take a little longer than what we had initially assumed. We want to leave no stone unturned to make Alpha into a theatrical experience for everyone to cherish. Thus, we will now release the film on April 17, 2026.”

‘Alpha’ stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead, with both actors coming together for a relentless action thriller. The film also features Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in key roles. The story will see Alia and Sharvari going toe to toe against Bobby Deol in what is described as a brutal showdown. The fresh pairing and power-packed cast have already sparked major curiosity among fans.

Makers prioritise quality and cinematic excellence

A trade source revealed that the film’s VFX work is taking longer than expected, but the team wants to ensure it meets the highest standards, “Alpha team wants to put out the best film for audiences to enjoy. It is a fair move by YRF. This was brewing as the VFX team was under a lot of pressure with regards to timelines which was seeming unrealistic. So, the push of release date is due to this only and not because of the current cluttered release window from Avatar to the end of January 2026. There is significant work pending and that’s why Alpha is releasing in April and not February.”

No box office for ‘Alpha’ and ‘Ikkis’

Earlier, there was buzz around a potential box office clash between ‘Alpha’ and Agastya Nanda’s patriotic drama ‘Ikkis’, which had announced its release for December 25, 2025. However, with YRF announcing the new date, the clash has been averted.
