Ameesha Patel breaks her silence on dating Ranbir Kapoor and Preity Zinta's ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia: ‘We were just good-looking people often seen together’

Ameesha Patel, who has had her fair share of public relationships, including her long-term affair with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and a shorter one with businessman Kanav Puri, was once speculated to be romantically involved with Ranbir Kapoor and Preity Zinta's ex-boyfriend and businessman Ness Wadia. She has now addressed two other long-standing rumours about her love life and has now put those whispers to rest.

Clearing the air about her alleged romance with Ness Wadia, Ameesha told Filmy Mantra, "Ness and I are family friends of three generations. His grandfather, my grandfather, our parents and now us—we all belong to the same South Bombay circle. These rumours probably came in because Ness is good-looking, eligible, and so am I. People just assumed we were a couple."

She added, "This was way before Preity’s thing. We were just 15 or 16. There’s no truth to it. We’re still very good friends. In fact, Ness’s father is the reason I got into Cathedral School. Our families used to go on Christmas holidays together. There are even childhood pictures of us together."

When directly asked if they ever dated, Ameesha was clear: “No, no, no.”

Speaking about the other headline-making rumour involving Ranbir Kapoor, Ameesha revealed that it started because the two were often seen together at high-profile social events.

“There was a year when we were together at a lot of functions—sometimes at Ranbir’s house, the RK bungalow, or watching the World Cup with mutual friends like Saif. There are many pictures from that time which went viral,” she said.

She continued, "Ranbir and I get along like a house on fire. He’s such a grounded guy. He’d ask me, ‘Ameesha, how did you handle so much fame?’—and I’d be like, 'Ranbir, you’re from such an iconic film family and you're asking me that?’ It was sweet."

Revealing how deeply the families are connected, Ameesha said, “Raj Kapoor gave kandha at my grandfather’s arthi. Rishi uncle, Babita ji, my parents—they were all friends during their dating phase. We’ve been connected to the Kapoor family for years.”




“Obviously, no one will link me with Kareena or Karisma because that wouldn’t make sense. But with Ranbir, because we were both single and good-looking, people assumed we were together.”



Taking the speculation with humour, Ameesha added, “Be it Ness, Salman, or Ranbir—at least the people I’ve been linked with are nice! But none of it was true.”
