Amid the 'Dhurandhar' storm Ranveer Singh starts training for 'Don 3'; film back on track—reports

After many delays and doubts, 'Don 3' is finally moving forward. Farhan Akhtar announced the film in August 2023 and confirmed Ranveer Singh as the new Don after Shah Rukh Khan.

The film was expected to start in January 2025, but Farhan’s acting work and other issues caused delays. Vikrant Massey’s reported exit as the villain also led to rumors that the film was shelved. Now, the makers are clear. Don 3 is very much happening.

Ranveer Singh begins action prep

According to News 18, Ranveer Singh has already started preparing for the film. He does not want to waste any time after the success of 'Dhurandhar.' Reportedly, he began his action training last week. The makers want to move fast now that schedules are falling into place. Ranveer will perform heavy action scenes in the film. The first shooting schedule is expected to begin by the end of January or early February next year.

Kriti Sanon joins the action

Kriti Sanon, who recently scored a hit with Tere Ishq Mein, is paired opposite Ranveer Singh in Don 3. She will not just be a glamorous presence. Kriti will also perform action scenes in the film, similar to Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ role as Roma in earlier Don films. Some parts of the first schedule will be shot in Jeddah.

Vikrant Massey and Cameo Buzz

After Vikrant Massey’s exit, reports claimed that actor Arjun Das had joined as the villain. However, the makers are still keen on Vikrant Massey. Talks have restarted, and Vikrant is interested. The team is now working around his dates, and small script changes are being made with him in mind. There is also strong buzz about cameo appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Farhan Akhtar has reportedly also approached Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman.

Overall, even with criticisms on casting, the audiences are eagerly waiting for how Ranveer will helm SRK and Amitabh's iconic characters.

'Dhurandhar' becoming only the 13th film to cross the Rs 500 crore net mark in India, reports on Sacnilk state that the movie is on track to cross the Rs 1000 crore mark at the worldwide box office.

This flick is inspired by true events, 'Dhurandhar' incorporates references to key geopolitical moments such as the 1999 Indian plane hijacking, the 2001 Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, and covert missions conducted by India’s R&AW, including Operation Lyari.
