Anjini Dhawan is poised to make her mark with her debut film, Binny and Family. As the niece of popular actor Varun Dhawan, she finds herself at the center of discussions surrounding nepotism in the film industry. While she acknowledges that her family ties may provide her with certain advantages, Anjini emphasizes that her journey has been shaped by hard work, auditions, and the inevitable rejections that accompany the pursuit of a career in acting.
Anjini's entry into Bollywood comes with the weight of expectations that often accompany star-kids. However, she is keen to clarify that her role in Binny and Family was not handed to her on a silver platter. In an interview with Mid-day, she expressed that despite her familial connections, she had to earn her place through auditions. She stated, “I’ve never been offered a script without an audition, and there have been rejections too.”

Anjini recognizes the challenges faced by outsiders in the film industry and that they have a much harder time breaking through compared to star kids.“To some extent, star kids get chances even if the audience rejects them because they have someone backing them. But no one has ever offered me a film just because I am Varun’s niece. Even for Binny and Family, the director had seen an old audition of mine.”
Having Varun Dhawan as an uncle provides Anjini with a unique perspective on the industry, she revealed,“The consistent advice that he has given me is to be honest and confident.” The ‘Bhediya’ actor has been a source of guidance, encouraging her to remain honest and confident in her craft. During the trailer launch of Binny and Family, Varun addressed the skepticism surrounding nepotism. He had stated, “No matter how much I say that she did this on her own, she has bagged the film on her own. It is difficult to believe when you are related to a film family.”

Binny and Family is all set to hit the screens on September 20, 2024, and promises to be a heartfelt family drama.
