Ankit Siwach on nearly losing 120 Bahadur over excessive demands: Those weren’t mine
Ankit Siwach reveals how he almost lost 120 Bahadur due to demands made by his management without his knowledge; Actor says, “I had absolutely no clue these requests were being made.”
As 120 Bahadur nears release, behind-the-scenes stories are emerging, including one from Ankit Siwach himself. The actor, whose dialogue from the trailer has already drawn attention, opens up about a misunderstanding that nearly cost him the film. “When 120 Bahadur came to me, I knew instantly it wasn’t just another project. It had purpose and emotional weight. I connected to it immediately,” Ankit says.
However, a miscommunication between his agency and the production team almost derailed the casting. Without his knowledge, requests for luxuries such as vanity vans and additional amenities were communicated on his behalf. Given the film’s remote locations and war-drama setup, these demands weren’t feasible. Tension grew quietly, and Ankit’s casting was on the brink — all without him being aware.
He says, “I had absolutely no clue these requests were being made. When the casting team reached out, I was genuinely shocked. It didn’t feel like me at all. I don’t function that way.”
Once informed, Ankit intervened immediately. He recalls, “I told them clearly, ‘I don’t need any of this. I just want to do the film.’ The story mattered more than the comfort around it. Shooting in tough conditions wasn’t a problem; it was part of the experience.”
For Ankit, 120 Bahadur was about conviction, not convenience. “This film has heart. It has grit. It has something to say. And I wanted to be a part of that,” he adds.
By stepping in at the right moment, he ensured he remained part of a film he deeply believed in.
In a previous chat with us, while talking about how portraying a soldier in a film based on the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Sino-Indian War holds personal meaning for him, he shared, “This is the first time I’m playing a soldier. I was born in Meerut Cantt and grew up around that environment, so I’ve always felt an emotional connection to the military. Wearing the uniform for this film felt like a dream realised.”
