Comedy, comedy shows, and stand-up artists are under fire, following the ‘India’s Got Latent’ row. The said fire now has even reached Anubhav Singh Bassi, comedian and actor who made his debut in Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar.’ He was not even part of the episode that led to the entire controversy; however, in the wake of the latest row, stricter rules are being applied.

As a step in the same direction, Lucknow DGP received a letter from UP Women's Commission vice-president Aparna Yadav. She urged the police officials to ensure that no "undignified comments" are made on women during Anubhav Singh Bassi's recent show in Lucknow.

Reportedly, the letter alleged Bassi of using obscene content and indecent language in his performance. Following the letter, the cops have denied a nod to Anurag Bassi’s show in Lucknow, that were scheduled on Saturday at the Indira Gandhi Pratisthan in Gomti Nagar at 3.30 pm and 7 pm. When the cops arrived at the venue, the comedian’s team was sent back by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) officials.

Reports suggest that Yadav wrote the letter after watching Bassi’s previous shows on his YouTube channel. She noted his work includes indecent words ('apshabd').

"Hence, it is expected of you that you (DGP) please ensure that in this proposed programme and similar programmes of stand-up artists, neither any indecent words nor any undignified comments are made on women," she requested in the letter.

"If possible, then such shows should be cancelled, and not permitted in the future," Yadav continued.

Reports further mention that Yadav addressed the media on the matter and said that she wrote the letter to cancel the show to ensure that the youth is not misguided. In addition to the letter to DGP, she wrote to the assistant engineer at Indira Gandhi Pratisthan. It was a request by her to seek a review of the events held at the venue.
