Anushka Sharma drops a like on post saying 'Army men are the real heroes, not Bollywood celebrities or Cricketers'; Netizens praise her ‘maturity’
As tensions heat up between India and Pakistan, Bollywood stars are showing their support for the Indian Army. One powerful post recently grabbed the attention of actress Anushka Sharma. It said, “Days like these make you realise that Army men are the real heroes, not Bollywood celebrities and cricketers.”
The 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' actress hit 'like' on the post after it was shared by a meme account on Instagram. That small action spoke volumes and quickly got fans talking. It struck a chord, especially because Anushka is not just a top Bollywood star, she’s also married to cricket icon Virat Kohli. Seeing her quietly back a message that praises soldiers over celebs really made people sit up and take notice.
With statements like “Anushka Sharma liked”, “Liked by Anushka” spamming in the comment section. A user also praise Anushka saying “Anushka's maturity without getting offended even she was a bollywood actress n partner of a cricketer. An important lifeskill to be learnt by immatured people who trolled her pointlessly.”
Standing with the Armed Forces
Anushka didn’t stop at liking the post. Earlier she also took to her Instagram story to express deep gratitude for the soldiers risking their lives to protect India. She wrote, “Eternally grateful to our Indian Armed Forces for protecting us through these times like the heroes that they are. Heartfelt gratitude to the sacrifices they and their families have made. Jai Hind.”
Virat Kohli’s message of respect
Anushka’s husband and India’s one of the biggest cricket stars, Virat Kohli, also made a strong statement of support for the army. Posting from his official social media handle, the cricketer wrote, “We stand in solidarity with, and salute our armed forces for fiercely protecting our country in these difficult times. We are forever indebted to our heroes for their unwavering bravery and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifices they and their families make for our great nation.”
Anushka’s father's brave history in the Army
Anushka’s strong views on the matter come from her personal experience. She is the daughter of Colonel (retired) Ajay Kumar Sharma, a decorated army officer who served in every war since 1982, including Operation Bluestar and the Kargil War. When the Kargil War broke out in 1999, Anushka was only 11 years old. In an earlier interview with Etimes, she had shared how difficult that time was for her and her family.
She said, “Kargil was a tough one. I was too young at that time, but I was scared of seeing my mother. She would always have the news channel switched on throughout the day and would get upset when casualties were announced.”
Anushka added with pride, “I take pride in saying that I am an army officer’s daughter even more than being an actor.”
