Anushka Sharma shuts down haters, explains Arfa’s decision in ‘Sultan’
Salman Khan's rape comment and director Ali Abbas Zafar's views on pregnant women didn't go down too well with a few. 'Sultan's leading lady Anushka Sharma has now stepped up to clear the air. The actress took to her micro-blogging account to explain her character Aarfa's, widely discussed decision to pick motherhood over Olympic glory. With a little help from former No 1 tennis star Victoria Azarenka, Anushka tried to put into perspective Aarfa's decision in the film. She shared the note Victoria posted to inform fans and well-wishers about her pregnancy. In the note, Victoria says, 'While I will miss competing in the sport that I love this season, I am excited for all that's ahead.' She goes on to say, 'There is nothing more special than becoming a parent and I'm blessed to have so many examples of women, in every walk of life, who have pursued careers they love while raising children.' Anushka wrote, 'Wanted to share this. For those who couldn't understand Aarfa's decision in 'Sultan,' maybe this will put things in perspective."She also stated that choosing a career over motherhood was as empowering as choosing motherhood over a career. She went on to say that the 'freedom to choose' was empowering itself.
