Aparshakti Khurrana: Zeenat Aman praising 'Jubilee' was a dream come true - Exclusive!
Before making it into Bollywood, Aparshakti Khurrana experimented with a variety of professions, including comedy, hosting, cricket and being a radio jockey. With the release of his most recent show 'Jubilee', the actor seems to be finally receiving his due as an actor. He made his acting debut in Hindi cinema with Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' but that seems like a distant past, as Aparshakti currently enjoys being on cloud nine with praise pouring in for his performance in the series.
Not just the audience, but yesteryear legend and Bollywood diva Zeenat Aman has also expressed her liking for the show. Reacting to the accolade, Aparshakti says, "A legend from that era has praised Jubilee, and it means a lot to me. I always felt blessed that I got to be a part of a show that was loved by all. But after watching Zeenat Aman ma'am's video, it was like a dream come true for me. These are the legends we have grown up watching. I can still remember when I was a 10-year-old kid and I watched her onscreen. I never thought that I'd become an actor one day. So from that day to this day, it really feels very surreal. We have seen Zeenat ma'am's entire journey from becoming Miss India, starring in 'Hare Rama, Hare Krishna', 'Yaadon Ki Baraat', and doing some other iconic films. And if a person like her is praising the show, it is amazing."
Aparshakti plays a retro film industry character, Binod Das and he's grateful for the opportunity. "Not all actors get a chance to play such a character. So I feel very blessed," he expresses.
As humble as ever, Aparshakti gives credit to the costume, make-up, hair and other departments for the impact his character has managed to make in Jubilee. He says, "Apart from acting, I think the costumes, hair, sets and the vintage cars you drive leave a huge impact on your body language. And it really makes the life of an actor easier. I really want to thank Shruti Kapoor, who is the costume designer for our show. I think she has worked really hard on it. I had 189 costumes for this role. This was a huge task. I would say costume, Amit Trivedi's music, Kausar Munir's lyrics and Alokananda Dasgupta's background music are all characters in the show."
The 'Jubilee' actor says that he didn't feel any kind of pressure but was excited instead. "I wouldn't say pressure; it was only excitement and a little bit of nervousness. Maybe it was a happy nervousness, like any artist experiences before going on stage or like a musician gets those jitters in the stomach before entering the studio. That's pretty normal," he signs off.
