B-Town filmmakers give a thumbs up to Laila Majnu

Upcoming film 'Laila Majnu' will see a classic love story being retold on celluloid. Ahead of the film’s release, Imtiaz Ali's close friend, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, hosted its first preview. Many of Bollywood’s A-list filmmakers made their presence felt at this ‘directors special preview’ and their response has been encouraging for the three debutants — lead pair Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri and director, Sajid Ali.

Rajkumar Hirani said, “Both Avinash and Tripti were fantastic and it didn’t feel like it is their debut performances. Romance runs in Imtiaz’s family, and we can see that in the manner Sajid has helmed this love saga.”

Vikramaditya Motwane added, “I loved the film. It has got a lot of soul, the actors are amazing, the music is impressive and the songs are beautiful.”

Abhishek Chaubey, too, was all praise for the film. He said, “I really enjoyed it. The lead actors are impressive and I am sure that the audience is in for a sweet surprise.”

On his part, Anurag tweeted, “Laila Majnu is such a heartfelt retelling of the love story, so deeply rooted in its milieu. Avinash Tiwary’s Majnu is so good, another addition to a list of good actors. Great music . Well done Sajid Ali. Yeh Romance kya genetic hai Ali khandan mein?#imtiazali (sic)”

Laila Majnu, presented by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Preety Ali's PI films, releases on September 7.
