Diljit Dosanjh who usually makes sure to stay away from controversies, found himself embroiled in one when the Telangana state government sent him a notice warning him not to perform songs that promote alcohol and violence during his Hyderabad show. The singer simply tweaked the lyrics of his song as he performed in Hyderabad. After Hyderabad, when he went to perform in Ahmedabad, and that’s when he gave a reply to the legal notice. In the mid of his performance, he said he doesn’t promote alcohol and has only a handful of songs that talk about it, it's very easy for him to tweak them. He wasn’t really happy by the fact that he was poked for this reason and then he announced that the day every state of India would be alcohol-free, he would never make a single song on alcohol.
The ‘Chamkila’ star got support from his fans when he spoke his heart out. In fact, recently his industry colleague and dear friend Badshah came in support of Diljit. Speaking at the Aaj Tak event, Badshah called out the apparent double standard in targeting musicians while liquor is sold almost everywhere in the country.
Reflecting on Diljit's statement he said that the artist is absolutely right on his part. “You are telling him not to sing or make songs about alcohol but then you're selling liquor everywhere. Why shouldn't they be made? An artist represents society and that's what makes them relevant and the reason why people love them. They speak about things that the whole world wants to say," the ‘Morni’ fame singer mentioned.
Badshah also acknowledges that the government must be facing some issue, a certain problem that people, in general, are not aware of, but at the same time, he agrees with Diljit 100 percent. "If you don't want him to sing about something, then that thing shouldn't be in the society in the first place," he added.
He also spoke about the personal bond that he shares with Diljit. Badshah said Diljit is like an elder brother to him who has always guided him and held his hand in the face of problems. Diljit has also inspired him and he treasures their bond.
