Salman Khan is not part of Uunchai; Sooraj Barjatya reveals the reason behind it

As far as we can remember, Barjatya and Salman Khan have remained synonymous with each other. The ever so lovable Prem has graced our screen multiple times, whether it is in Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), Hum Saath - Saath Hain (1999) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). However, Sooraj Barjatya's latest outing Uunchai does not feature Salman Khan and here is why.

With Uunchai, Sooraj Barjatya wanted to break the mould that his films are so well known for - bright, grand sets, elaborate songs and intrinsic family values - Uunchai, set in the hills is pathbreaking in many ways for Barjatya and hence required a different cast as well.

During Uunchai's trailer launch in Mumbai, Sooraj said that he was adamant on a different set of actors for the film and hence had to turn down Salman Khan. According to him, with this movie, he has broken all familiar barriers and a new cast just seeemed like the right step in that direction.

Uunchai, that marks the return of Sooraj Barjatya as a director after Prem Ratan Dhan Payo stars Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani and Anupam Kher in lead roles. It hits theatres on November 11 this year.
