Boney Kapoor calls Syed Abdul Rahim a 'nationalist'; says, 'Maidaan will change the way people perceive Indian football'

Ace filmmaker Boney Kapoor is gearing up to present ‘Maidaan’ to audiences, slated for release in theaters on April 10. This biographical sports drama is a cinematic tribute to the remarkable life of football legend Syed Abdul Rahim.

Recently, the filmmaker opened up about the legendary man, Syed Abdul Rahim, and expressed that Rahim Saab was a superman. He single-handedly created the entire team. He was such a nationalist; he wanted to win gold for India, and eventually he did, despite so many handicaps. Kapoor added that this film will change the way people perceive Indian football, for sure.

Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma 'Maidaan' is a sports biographical drama set during the golden era of Indian football (1952–62), chronicling the life of renowned football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Ajay Devgn writes about the role of the legendary coach, who played a pivotal role in shaping modern Indian football.

On Wednesday, Boney took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to extend his heartfelt wishes to actor Ajay Devgn on his 55th birthday.

Boney wrote, "With his passion for cinema, versatility in roles, powerhouse performances, and commitment to his art, Ajay has emerged as one of the most valuable actors in our country. Wishing @ajaydevgn'a very happy birthday."

The film features a stellar supporting cast, including Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh. Directed by Amit Rav. The film will hit the big screens on April 10.
