'Border 2': Makers to drop announcement teaser on Independence Day; Sunny Deol will be back as Major Kuldip Singh

'Border 2' is one of the most awaited films of the year. And what could be more appropriate than launching the teaser of a war drama on Independence Day? According to a report, the makers are planning to drop a teaser on August 15, 2025.

The film starring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty has been the talk of the town. However, one of the USPs of the film is Sunny Deol returning as Major Kuldip Singh. Now, according to Pinkvilla, the film team will start the promotional campaign with a minute-long announcement video.


A source told the publication, "Anurag Singh has cut a 1-minute announcement video with Sunny Deol, which encapsulates the rivalry between India and the neighbouring nation and the spirit of Border 2." According to the report, the producers will confirm the Republic Day 2026 release date with the teaser drop.

The report added that the teaser will be launched digitally on August 15, and the KDM will be screened in multiplex theatres during that weekend with 'War 2.' Reportedly, the makers cracked a deal with all the theatre chains to screen the teaser with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's action film, and everyone agreed to it "willingly."

'Border 2' has been backed by JP Dutta, Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta. Reportedly, it is being considered as the biggest war drama in Indian cinema. The film starts from the point where 'Border' left off. Not just that, the movie will make all the '90s kids nostalgic, as the producers are recreating the iconic song 'Sandese Aate Hai' with Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh. The film also stars Medha Rana as the leading lady.


Meanwhile, the first installment was released in the year 1997. It was set during the period of the 1971 war. The movie starred Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty and Akshaye Khanna in pivotal roles.
