Starring Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Harshvardhan Rane, Luv Sinha and Siddhant Kapoor, it aims to highlight one of most the historic wins by the Indian Army, because of which Sikkim is a part of India, today.

The story is relevant even now, because even as recently as last year, China had intruded into Ladakh. There was also the issue of Doklam standoff around the same time. The incidents, the filmmaker notes, were alarmingly similar to what happened in 1967.

JP Dutta, who has presented two

war

dramas, 'Border' (1997) and '

LOC Kargil

' (2003), hopes to complete his trilogy with '

Paltan

'. The filmmaker, who has also written the upcoming movie, says, “They (China) started in 1962, and we finished it in 1967. The 1967 battle is India’s biggest victory against China, a historic milestone that needs to be told to the audience. For some reason, this victory is not known to many of us; that’s why I chose to tell this story.”

'Paltan', produced by Zee Studios & JP Films, releases on September 7.
