The idea of the film's revival was born from a speech at the recent Bimal Roy Memorial awards function.

Talking to a media house, daughter of the legend Bimal Roy shared how the idea of the revival was born. She said, "During the award function everyone was talking about the body of work which set Indian filmmaking by Bimal Roy. So it was asked at the event whether everyone wants to watch his work again on which everyone responded that they would want to watch 'Madhumati'.
