Deepika Padukone held a fan's mother's hand, leaving her emotional at the 40th birthday meet, 'She was in tears'
Deepika Padukone, who turned 40 on January 5, hosted an intimate meet-and-greet with fans in Mumbai a day earlier, on January 4. The special event brought together fans from across India. While several heartfelt interactions took place, one particular exchange involving a fan’s mother struck an emotional chord and quickly went viral on social media.
He revealed that the visit carried extra emotion as it was the first time his mother accompanied him. “This time, I took my mom along with me. Staying with me, she also slowly became a fan of Deepika,” he added.
Recalling his mother’s initial disbelief, he quoted her words exactly as she said them: “‘Chal, khota bolu nakos (Don’t lie). Evdhya vela bhetalas, mala kadhi nahi melas (You met her so many times, but never took me along).’” According to him, once she finally met Deepika, she was left completely speechless.
The fan further described how his mother struggled to contain her emotions during the interaction. “She was almost in tears when DP held her hand. She was literally lost in that moment — and when Deepika thanked her for the gift, my mom couldn’t hold back her emotions. (My mom had gifted Deepika special handmade puran poli). She walked away with tears in her eyes — and honestly, every fan can relate to that moment, the emotions we go through after meeting a diva like her,” he wrote.
He concluded by thanking Deepika and the team behind the event: “Once again, thank you so much, DP, for such an amazing meet-and-greet and the delicious food. Though my mom missed all the food because it was her Margashish Gurvar fast. Thank you @dhiirraj.13 @fionadsouza14 and @aashianahluwalia for making this happen. Thank you for everything, and happy birthday, @deepikapadukone. This is a moment that my mom and I will never forget.”
What the fan expressed after the meeting
The touching moment surfaced through a fan’s Instagram post, in which he reflected on attending the event with his mother. He shared how the experience became even more meaningful when Deepika personally acknowledged his mother with warmth and affection. In his caption, the fan wrote, “Universe, my stars, or my good karma — whatever you call it — Deepika Padukone invited me once again for a very special, intimate meet-and-greet. This happened for the fourth time, yet jitna mile, utna hamesha kam hi lagta hai.”He revealed that the visit carried extra emotion as it was the first time his mother accompanied him. “This time, I took my mom along with me.
