Deepika Padukone reveals why she and Ranveer Singh are keeping daughter Dua away from paparazzi and social media
Bollywood’s power couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh welcomed their first child, daughter Dua, last year. Since then, fans have eagerly waited for a glimpse of their baby girl. But both Deepika and Ranveer have remained firm—no paparazzi clicks, no Instagram reveals, and definitely no baby photos in the public eye.
The 'Bajirao Mastani' actress has always balanced her glamorous career with quiet grace. But now, after becoming a mother, she’s also making thoughtful choices about how to raise her daughter Dua with husband Ranveer Singh.
Wanting a childhood just like hers
Deepika may be a global superstar today, but her own childhood was surprisingly grounded. The daughter of legendary badminton player Prakash Padukone, she grew up far from the limelight. “We weren't burdened with our parents' hopes and dreams,” Deepika shared in a chat with Marie Claire.
The 'Piku' actress recalled how her father never let stardom come in the way of being a parent. “I don't ever remember my father sitting me down and saying, ‘Hey, I'm a professional badminton player and I'm a celebrity.’ I remember it being he was a father first, and everything that we got to know of him was based on just our own curiosity and the fact that everything was just so normal.”
This idea of growing up in a home where things were “just so normal” left a deep impression on Deepika. It wasn’t until later in life, when she saw her father signing autographs, that she truly understood how famous he was. That quiet, unforced discovery of his identity is something she hopes to pass on to Dua.

Dua’s innocence comes first
Now that Deepika is a mother herself, she’s determined to give Dua the same kind of protected and peaceful childhood. With a combined Instagram following of nearly 128 million between her and Ranveer, sharing even a single photo of Dua would go viral in seconds. But they’ve made a conscious choice to keep her face, and her life, offline.
The 'Chennai Express' actress believes in guarding Dua from unnecessary attention, especially from paparazzi and social media. It’s a decision that speaks to the desire to preserve innocence for as long as possible. And even during the interview, Deepika remained cautious. At one point, she admitted, “I don’t know how much of this Ranveer would be okay with me sharing.”
Deepika and Ranveer are not the only Bollywood couple who’ve chosen to shield their child from the public eye. Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have been equally strict about protecting their kids Vamika and Akaay’s privacy. Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, too, have taken steps to keep daughter Raha away from constant public glare.
