Deepshikha Nagpal reveals no insecurity between Salman Khan and Govinda on 'Partner' set: Salman was so sweet to Govinda
Deepshikha Nagpal is a versatile actress and director primarily involved in Hindi cinema and television. Her filmography includes notable titles such as 'Koyla', 'Baadshah', 'Dillagi', and 'Partner'. She also shared in an interview that Salman Khan and Govinda had a harmonious working relationship during the filming of 'Partner', with no signs of rivalry.
Working Without a Script
In an interview with Bollywood Bubbles, Deepshikha discussed her experience working on the film 'Partner'. She revealed that the cast did not receive the script in advance, as Salman and Govinda were already familiar with their roles. The director, David Dhawan, had told her that she needed to be strong and independent on set, as he would be focused on managing the two leading stars. Deepshikha acknowledged the pressure of working alongside such big names with fixed schedules and limited time. Although she had prior film experience, this project was particularly challenging because many scenes were improvised on the spot, with immediate instructions given during shooting.
Improvisation and On-Spot Creativity
The actress described her experience on the set as one of improvisation, where she had to fill in the gaps during conversations, responding to what others said. Govinda would often add spontaneous lines, and she managed the flow between the actors. Occasionally, Salman and Govinda would engage in playful arguments, and she would reassure them that everything was fine. She recalled improvising a line about hot tea and snacks being ready, which Salman cleverly responded to with a witty remark. Although the scenes appeared rehearsed, they were entirely impromptu, showcasing the strong chemistry among the actors. This natural interaction is why she cherishes that particular scene so much.
Mutual Respect Between Salman and Govinda
When asked about any insecurity between the actors on set, Deepshikha emphasized that there was none. She highlighted Khan’s kindness towards Govinda, especially since it marked Govinda’s comeback. Despite both being senior actors, Salman showed Govinda immense respect and made sure all his needs were met. Deepshikha recalled, “Salman was so sweet to Govinda. It was Govinda’s comeback, you know. Govinda is a senior actor and Salman too, of course, but Salman gave him the utmost respect. I saw it with my own eyes. Whatever was needed for Govinda ji, Salman ensured it was done. He never behaved like, ‘I’m Salman Khan’ Never.” She also mentioned how the two would often go out of their way to run or work out together, with Salman genuinely looking after Govinda. There was no insecurity on set, as both actors exchanged suggestions and listened to each other’s ideas, creating a beautiful working relationship.
