Rosshan Andrrews’s Bollywood directorial debut film ‘Deva’ may be receiving mediocre reviews from the audiences, but the film is doing good box office business.
Deva Movie Review According to the Sacnilk website, the Shahid Kapoor starrer has collected Rs 20.75 crore worldwide in just 3 days and the India net collections are Rs 19.49 crore. India's gross collections stand at Rs 14.35 crore. The overseas collections for the movie stand at Rs 6.4 crore.
The Hindi net box office collections of the film amount to Rs 19.49 crore and the early estimates by the website say that the film has raked in Rs 7.59 crore on day 3. The movie opened with Rs 5.5 crore on day 1 and it maintained the collections on day 2 as it collected Rs 6.4 crore.
The film is a remake of the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Malayalam movie ‘Mumbai Police’. Even though the Bollywood film has some changes, the audiences are criticizing the Pooja Hegde starrer as it has not been able to match the charm of the original Malayalam thriller.
ETimes gave a rating of 3.5 out of 5 for the Shahod Kapoor starrer and our review reads, “That said, the film isn’t without flaws. The narrative has several loopholes and moments that feel unconvincing—a sniper shot, for instance, seems far-fetched. Some loose ends remain unexplained (avoiding spoilers here). Dev’s childhood hardships and his motivation to become a cop to arrest his abusive father are referenced multiple times but never fully explored. The overall pace remains slow, yet it manages to keep you engaged and entertained. The film has inconsistencies, however, its intensity, raw appeal, and slick execution make it worth a watch.”
