Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma shared his thoughts after watching Dhurandhar: The Revenge. He said the film has a very strong impact in every way, from collections to audience excitement and visuals. He also said it will be much bigger than Sholay and even compared it with Mughal-e-Azam. "After last nights watch of #Dhurandhar2 in terms of it’s sheer cumulative impact in every which way , whether on it’s expected collections , audience euphoria , social influences , cinematic grammar breaking , and above all the psychological audio visual impact , it will be a SHOLAY x 100 level magnificence and is bound to make all the greatest films made so far starting from MUGHAL E AZAM. onwards look like TV SERIALS,“ Ram Gopal Varma wrote on X (formerly Twitter) handle after watching ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge.’ He added, “This is the BIRTH of a NEW CINEMATIC ORDER and the ruthless extinction of everything that that ever existed before in the previous WORLD of CINEMA. The very spelling of the word DIRECTOR will start from @adityadharfilms name , and it will be prudent and wise for even STEVEN SPIELBERG and CHRISTOPHER NOLAN to drop everything they are doing, and catch #Dhurandhar2 FIRST DAY FiRST SHOW.”
A report shared by Let's Cinema says that the film’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) report is now online. The report shows that some changes have been made before the film’s release in India. These changes include cutting scenes and making a few edits, which has also reduced the film’s total runtime.
As per the report, the CBFC asked for 4 changes out of 21 major points. All these changes are related to very violent scenes. Some of these scenes include things like “smashing the eye,” “beheading and kicking,” “hitting the head with a cement block,” and “hitting the head with a hammer.”
Actor Rajat Arora recently shared that he got injured while shooting an action scene for the film ‘Dhurandhar’. Despite the injury, he continued shooting until the scene was completed. While speaking with IANS, he recalled that co-star Ranveer Singh quickly rushed to help him after he fell. Ranveer picked him up and comforted him, saying he understood the pain, as his wife Deepika Padukone had experienced something similar during her shoots. "Yes, there was an incident during an action scene where I got injured, but I continued performing until the shot was completed. After that, when I fell on the ground, Ranveer Singh came running towards me and picked me up and said "I know it is quite painful, as my wife also went through the same pain and she also didn't told any one when she was shooting," he said. Rajat Arora added that Ranveer Singh personally took him to the first aid centre afterward, calling it a moment that taught him resilience.
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who was effusive in his praise for the first part, is equally excited for part two.
"In Indian cinematic history, no film is being awaited more eagerly than Dhurandhar 2. I wouldn’t be surprised if it earns over Rs 120 crore in a single day... The film has a long runtime, which might slightly limit the number of shows, but since it is expected to run for a long time in theatres, that shouldn’t make much of a difference," he added.
The mania around 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' has also affected a long-running ritual at one of the most iconic theatres in Mumbai. Maratha Mandir, the single-screen theatre that has run 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' continuously for three decades, has shifted its iconic 11:30 am DDLJ show to 10:00 am from March 18 to make room for three shows of 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' - at 1:15 pm, 5:30 pm and 9:45 pm.
'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', which film officially releases on Thursday, is well-positioned to rewrite the record books across multiple categories.
On paid previews, the benchmark it must beat is Rs 23 crore, set by Pawan Kalyan's 'They Call Him OG'. On opening day, the movie will take on the current Hindi film record, which is held by Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' at Rs 66 crore, according to Sacnilk.
Over its full run, the sequel will be chasing the first "Dhurandhar", which currently sits at the top of the all-time highest-grossing Hindi films list, ahead of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' (Hindi), 'Stree 2' and 'Chhaava'.
With Aditya Dhar's "Dhurandhar: The Revenge", arriving in cinemas just months after the massive success of its first part, doing exceptionally well in its paid previews and advance booking, the exhibition industry and trade pundits are confident that the film will shatter many records set by previous blockbusters at the box office.
With just two days to go for its release, the film's paid previews, which open on Wednesday from 5.30 pm onwards, are almost booked with more than 4 lakh tickets sold.
"I hope it breaks the record of ‘Dhurandhar’ one and hope it turns out to be the first film to cross Rs. 1,000 crore nett box office in Hindi, besides, the contribution from dubbed versions of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. I hope that’s an addition to Rs. 1,000 crore.
"In terms of box-office, we are looking at Rs 45 to 50 crore nett on Wednesday (pre-release paid previews), which is a weekday, and it’s starting from half-day," Kamal Gianchandani told PTI.
Shashwat Sachdev praised Ranveer Singh’s performance in 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' and called him an “amazing artist”.
“Day after tomorrow (March 19), you guys will see what Ranveer bhai has done in the film; it’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime performance. Everything that I do, I do it in his glory, if it’s coming its coming through him. So, if it's divine it’s him, and if it’s bad it’s probably me,” he said.
The music team behind the film, including Khan Saab, Sudhir Yaduvanshi, Shahzad Ali, and rap artists Reble, were among those present at the film's music launch event in Mumbai.
Actors R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Rakesh Bedi are set to reprise their roles in the second part of 'Dhurandhar'.
Sara Arjun also expressed her gratitude to the fans. “Thank you for all the love and encouragement that you’ve given me and to ‘Dhurandhar’. The film is because of you all (audience). The real Dhurandhar is our audience,” she said.
Recalling her character’s journey, Sara said she was listening to 'Halka Halka Suroor' during a pivotal scene with the character Hamza, played by Singh. “Music is an integral part of our lives, personally, even I can’t function without it. We take pride in the album that Shashwat sir has created,” she said.
The film’s music is composed by the national award-winning composer and producer Shashwat Sachdev, known for his compositions in “The Ba***ds of Bollywood” and “Kesari 2”.
Singh hailed Sachdev as an “unstoppable, fireball, and musical juggernaut”.
“I’ve had the great honour of being with him in the studio; he is one of a kind. He is going to go down in history as one of the greats. He is getting started. Mark my words,” Singh said.
“Shashwat Sachdev has put his heart and soul into both the films. The music has become the soul of the film, and it will remain its hallmark for years to come,” he added.
“Dhurandhar: The Revenge” is truly a Shashwat Sachdev musical, the actor said.
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh on Tuesday thanked audiences worldwide for the success of his film “Dhurandhar”, saying their “love and respect” were the driving force behind its box office performance.
“Dhurandhar”, released in December 2025, scripted history at the box office, garnering a global collection of Rs 1,300 crore, with Rs 1,000 crore coming directly from the domestic Indian market. It also earned widespread acclaim for its narrative, music, and standout performances by the entire cast.
The spy thriller was directed by Aditya Dhar, who shot to fame with “Uri: The Surgical Strike”.
Speaking at the music launch for the sequel “Dhurandhar: The Revenge”, Singh said the entire team is overwhelmed by the anticipation around the film, which is set to arrive in cinema halls on March 19.
“You helped our film reach a historic milestone, and this was only possible to achieve because of your love and respect. I thank the cinema-going audience across the globe on behalf of our entire team,” the actor said.
“Dhurandhar: The Revenge will be released day after tomorrow (March 19), and everyone has been eagerly wanting to see this film across the world. As a team, we are so humbled and grateful for the response to the first part of the film,” he added.
