Dia Mirza, known for her warm and down-to-earth personality, married businessman Vaibhav Rekhi in 2021. Earlier this afternoon, Dia sent heartfelt birthday wishes to her stepdaughter, Samaira Rekhi on Instagram. Samaira is Vaibhav's daughter from his first marriage to Sunaina. Dia and Vaibhav also have a son together named Avyaan Azaad Rekhi, born in 2021.
Dia took to Instagram to share adorable pictures with her stepdaughter, captioning them, "Happy 15th Birthday baby girl. I carry your heart in my heart forever." The first image shows Dia and Samaira posing together in a sun-kissed selfie, both dressed in white outfits. Dia added a Pahadi touch to her look with a Pahadi cap, creating a charming and heartfelt moment.
Earlier, talking to ETimes, Dia opened up on the portrayal of women in Bollywood. She said, "From my own experience as a working actor, I have witnessed a significant shift in the portrayal of women in Bollywood films over the years. The emergence of the OTT era has allowed for more diverse and complex female characters, such as Kainaaz in 'Kaafir', challenging traditional stereotypes. While I am grateful for the opportunities to play diverse roles, I hope to see a day when films led by women are not labeled as 'women-centric' but simply become the norm."
On the challenges female actors face, Dia said, "In the Indian film industry, women still face challenges in telling stories from their perspective and asserting their agency. However, the increasing presence of female directors, producers, and writers is paving the way for more inclusive narratives. Directors like Anubhav Sinha are unafraid to challenge gender norms, contributing to a thriving environment for women-led stories."
Dia was last seen in the coming of age drama road drama Dhak Dhak, along side Ratna Pathak Shah, Sanjana Sanghi and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
