As her health deteriorated, her doctors advised her to seek advanced treatment abroad. The United States had the best cardiac facilities at the time, offering her the only real chance at survival.

News that India’s most glamorous star was applying for a US visa quickly became a sensation. The press covered every detail, speculating about whether she would leave the country permanently or return after treatment. Fans were heartbroken at the thought of losing her, even temporarily.

Though her visa application was medically justified, the process was not smooth. Reports suggest she faced delays in getting clearances, as authorities were cautious about approving travel for someone of her stature, fearing public uproar if anything went wrong.
