His early steps in films and television

Sharad Kelkar entered Bollywood in 2004 with the comedy film 'Hulchul'. He played Kareena Kapoor’s unlucky groom. While the role was brief, it marked his first step into the industry.




The same year, he made his television debut with Doordarshan’s Aakrosh, where he played Inspector Sachin Kulkarni and instantly showcased a strong screen presence.

Before pursuing acting full-time, Kelkar worked as a gym instructor and a model. These experiences shaped his discipline and dedication, qualities that later reflected in his performances as an actor.

About his role in 'Taskaree'

In 'Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web', Kelkar plays Bada Chaudhary, a powerful smuggling kingpin. He recently spoke about the inspiration behind the character’s look and demeanour. He said, “My character is a fan of his. There’s a moment where he goes for a haircut, and Bachchan’s photograph is placed in front of him, prompting that particular hairstyle. That swag is just a small part of the larger story,” revealing how the ‘Angry Young Man’ era influenced the narrative.

He also opened up about the psychological weight of the role, adding, “It forced me to explore a darker psychology, and I’m glad I took that risk,” proving he continues to push creative boundaries.
