Dilip Kumar's last film was 'Qila' and it was released in 1998. The legend, who left the world of living this morning, was 75 then, but still energetic. "He was the life of the film, he mixed with the youngsters readily and easily," says
Umesh Mehra who directed it.
Mehra says that off the sets, Dilip Kumar was like a child who loved to keep certain foods and fruits in his room. "He loved sarda--a fruit I got for him from
Uzbekistan
. He used to hug it and say he will keep it in his room". The thespian also loved an omelet sandwich and bhajiyaas."He wasn't supposed to be eating oily stuff as per the advice of his doctors, but still managed to".
Mehra goes on to add, "I consider myself lucky to have directed such a fantastic actor, who was simply incomparable. He was definitely not given any time of leaving the set, but as the film progressed, he started doing late nights. He thoroughly enjoyed himself while working on my movie".
Dilip Kumar will be laid to rest in the
Juhu
cemetery at 5 pm today.
