‘Dostana 2’, Shah Rukh Khan's next with Katrina Kaif: When Kartik Aaryan hit headlines for turning down films
Kartik Aaryan has been hitting headlines for all the wrong reasons these days. The national heartthrob seems to be opting out of several movies and the latest one causing controversy is his collaboration with Aanand L Rai. While a report stated that Kartik’s film with Aanand didn’t work out, the filmmaker’s team issued a statement clarifying, “These are baseless rumours. We’ve met Kartik for a different film and we’re still talking”. While the jury is still out about Kartik-Aanand’s collaboration, here’s taking a look at other movies that the actor has allegedly turned down.

Dostana 2
Karan Johar had announced ‘Dostana 2’ with much fanfare, roping in Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor as the leads. After an extensive shoot--almost 80 per cent--Kartik opted out of the film. A source revealed to ETimes that he had suggested that he's ready to continue with the film only if the makers drop Janhvi but it turns out it was Kartik who was shown the door. There has been no confirmation about what transpired but KJo’s team had later issued a statement, saying, “Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence - we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D'Cunha”.

Another Karan Johar film
Before ‘Dostana 2’ happened, Karan Johar had offered Kartik another film. While details were not revealed, Kartik had confessed turning down the project. While on a chat show, Kartik had stated that it was a ‘fabulous film’, which he had to let go because, at that point in time, he didn't want to be a part of it.

A 10 crore movie
Post the success of ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, Kartik Aaryan was flooded with offers and the actor took his time to decide the course of his career. In an interview with a daily, Karitk confessed that he was offered Rs 10 crore for a film post ‘Sonu…’ but he turned it down because he didn’t see himself in it.

Shah Rukh Khan’s next with Katrina Kaif
Kartik Aaryan opted out of the Shah Rukh Khan-produced love story after he faced creative differences and had concerns about the casting too. Directed by Ajay Bahl, this film was to feature Kartik and Katrina Kaif as the leads. The actor had expressed his displeasure about the script and eventually decided to politely walk away.
