Durgesh Kumar reveals producers of 'Behen Hogi Teri' advised him not to cash Rs 12,000 cheque
Durgesh Kumar, famed for his role as “Banrakash” in Panchayat, shared the struggles he faced on his journey to success. In the video, the actor reflects on a challenging work experience from his past and its financial impact on him.
An Instagram video from an old interview shows the actor reflecting on his early career. He revealed that he worked on a film titled 'Behen Hogi Teri', which, despite its star-studded cast, turned out to be a major box-office failure. The film's dismal performance led to financial ruin for the producers.
The actor shared that he was supposed to receive Rs 12,000 for his role in 'Behen Hogi Teri'. However, due to the film's massive failure, the producer asked him not to cash the cheque, highlighting the financial difficulties the company was facing. Durgesh remarked that this experience is part of the challenging journey in an industry he deeply loves. Inspired by cinema legends like Amitabh Bachchan, he ventured into acting with high hopes. He advised aspiring artists, saying, “I want to tell new artists that working in this field is not easy. Withdrawing money is not so straightforward.” The Rs 12,000 cheque, a reminder of that tough period, is still kept at his home.
'Behen Hogi Teri' was directed and written by Ajay K Pannalal. The film featured Rajkummar Rao and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, with supporting performances by Gautam Gulati, Herry Tangri, Darshan Jariwala, Natasha Rastogi, and others. Durgesh Kumar appeared in the role of an inspector. The film was produced by Tonny D’souza, Amul Vikas Mohan, and Nitin Upadhyaya.
