A personal life which has alternately been beset by tragedy and controversy. It''s not easy being Sanjay Dutt. And the 45-year-old actor concedes as much.

"When my first wife Richa succumbed to cancer, it was seemingly too much for me to handle," says Sanjay, "But God gave me the strength to face the unexpected. I believe that I have the ability to stand up and face the worst. Still, I will never be able to overcome the loss of my mother."

After Nargis passed away, Sanjay''s emotional turmoil saw him getting involved with drugs — an act for which he is yet to forgive himself. So much so, he refuses to pin any blame on those who introduced him to drugs.

"When the final decision is always is in one''s own hands, why blame others?" he reasons, "I still feel very bad about the drugs chapter in my life. It was the biggest mistake I have made and I will never forgive myself. I lost a lot because of drugs and gained nothing in return. I would have been dead if I hadn''t escaped the drug trap. My advice to today''s youngsters is to say ''no'' to drugs: that''s the only thing to do."

A man who has always fought his own battles in life, Sanjay believes in working at his own pace. In the pipeline is Plan, which will hit the silver screen shortly.

"Plan is all about abduction," informs Sanjay, "In the movie, I play a rich guy called Moosa, who has personal bodyguards. The baddies are four guys burdened by debt. But after abducting me, they realise that I am more dangerous than they are. Finally, the abductors help me nail the insider who masterminded the abduction."

While his celluloid career is firmly on track, Sanjay has found his anchor in his second wife Rhea. "She is truly wonderful and has been with me during some of the worst days of my life. Rhea has always been there for me when I needed her."

Also finding a place in Sanjay''s heart is Delhi — a city the star visits often. "Delhi holds fond memories for me," he says, "I studied at Lawrence School and have many friends in the Capital. Delhi will always be one my favourite places." And for Delhi, Sanjay Dutt will always be one of its favourite actors.
