Ekta Kapoor says it was painful when Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘Thank You For Coming’ failed at the box office: 'We were spammed with hatred'

Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor were seen promoting Rajesh A Krishnan’s ‘Crew’, starring Bollywood’s leading ladies Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kriti Sanon, and Tanu in main roles. The comedy drama began to win at the box office as well as in the hearts of viewers. Prior to this, the producer duo had faced a bitter experience with Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘Thank You For Coming’, which couldn’t perform well at the box office. In a recent interview, the duo explained how strange and hurt they felt when it failed to meet their expectations in terms of numbers.

‘Thank You For Coming’ was a comedy film that addressed women's sexuality and methods of seeking pleasure. Its portrayal of a less attentive environment towards women's sexual needs made a significant impact on an international level. In an interview with Variety, Ekta Kapoor expressed her strange pain regarding how the film, with such a narrative, received an odd reception in India compared to its reception overseas. She was completely bewildered by what happened.


Ektaa also mentioned the hate spamming they endured at the time on social media. She stated that their accounts used to be spammed every day with hatred because the movie is about female sexuality. On a humorous yet alarming note, Ekta mentioned that she could anticipate what would happen when ‘LSD 2’ is released and she will have to hide again.

Ekta Kapoor will be producing Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘LSD: Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2’, which stars Tusshar Kapoor, Mouni Roy, Uorfi Javed, Anu Malik, and Swastika Mukherjee in important roles. It is set to be released on April 19.
