Exclusive! Bridgerton's Luke Thompson is 'curious to explore India': India is not culturally a big part of me, but is genetically
Unlike his Bridgerton predecessors, including Jonathan Bailey, Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page, becoming popular, Luke Thompson, the leading man of Season 4 of the show, isn’t one to overthink the trajectory of his career, even as the show continues to enjoy worldwide popularity. In a conversation with us, he says, “You just have to focus on the scene and on what’s in front of you. I don’t see jobs as career stepping stones. I think it’s lovely to do your thing and feel like lots and lots of people are watching you. But you just take things as they come. I think acting as a profession really instils that in you. You just do the thing that’s in front of you, and then you see. Otherwise, you’d go mad, wouldn’t you?”
Luke Thompson, who has previously spoken about being partly of Indian origin (he revealed his grandmother is Anglo-Indian) admits he is keen to explore the country someday. “I’m very curious. It’s funny how genetics work. Because, as I say, it’s not a culturally big part of me, but then it sort of is, I guess – genetically. So yeah, I’d love to come and explore India and see what it’s like.”
The actor also reflects on how Netflix's Bridgerton, known for its sweeping romances, engages with deeper emotional truths beneath its glossy surface. “Yes, I guess it just digs down. What I love about the show is that, for something that starts off with the premise of a romance novel, which is often seen as a bit simplistic, it actually really delves into the complications of falling in love and of love generally. And I think that’s really cool that it does that,” he signs off.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
