What are the precautions that the production house is taking on the sets where you are currently shooting? We are following all the protocols--everyone on the sets is tested before they start shooting. As an actor, you can’t wear a mask all the time, but we are all getting back as work demands. And all I can say is that it’s great to see everyone and shoot with them after a year.
After 'Kai Po Che!' in 2013, you took a seven-year break before returning with ‘Judgementall Hai Kya’ and your web debut with ‘Four More Shots Please!’...I never took a break, the reason I wasn’t seen around was that I wasn’t getting the work that I enjoyed doing or resonated with. There was a dry spell. Your career doesn't always go upward; a lot of struggle is involved.
What kind of work are you getting offered now? There is so much work happening with OTT coming in. So many stories are being told. There is a lot of variety, and I am enjoying my bit.
Do you relate to your character in ‘Four More Shots Please!’?Well, in the show we are dressed the best and I enjoy wearing these clothes. In the show, we are a gang of four girls; in real life, we are a group of seven girls and have a WhatsApp group. Like most of you, we also have fun, plan trips, go shopping. The only difference is that I don’t look fabulous all the time. About the show, what I like is all the women in the show are open about their sexuality; they enjoy sex and are single and independent regardless of their relationship status. And I am not saying that getting married or taking care of their children and husband is wrong but being a housewife is a thankless job.
Were you typecast after the success of 'Aisha'?No, in fact, in the first half of the film, I played a girl from a small town who was ungroomed. I was quite a ‘behenji’. Post the release of the film, I did a lot of glamorous photoshoots to change my image.
How was your camaraderie with Abhay Deol during the shoot of ‘Aisha’?It’s been a long time since I have met Abhay. I feel he is one of the best actors we have in
Bollywood
and not just because I have worked with him. But what I loved about him is that he had no airs, and though I was completely new, he made me so comfortable! Everything on the sets was easy-breezy.
