Exclusive: Mouni Roy Birthday! The Gold actress would add this Bengali streak to her celebrations

It’s Mouni Roy’s birthday today! As she turns a year older, she is celebrating the day with her friends in Maldives. It’s been long that the Gold actress is abroad. While she spent the lockdown in Abu Dhabi, she flew down to London for her work commitment and then she went to Dubai, before flying off to Maldives. When BT got in touch with Mouni last week she mentioned that she was busy planning her celebrations with her near and dear ones there.

The actress has been away from her folks since a long time and the special day is making her all the more nostalgic. On the occasion, she shares a few childhood memories, “My baba would wake me up really early, we would clean up and do the puja rituals. I remember on our birthdays it was okay not to be in school uniforms. This used to be the only day in a year we were allowed to wear informal clothes to school. Maa and baba would get me a big packet of chocolates and toffees to distribute in the class.”



While that being about the time spent in school, back at home she would have her Bengali musical nights. She recollects, “By the time I come back, maa, maasi and mami would be cooking all my favourite dishes and then some friends and family would come over. We used to sing and dance on Bengali songs. Maa would play the harmonium, while my mama or baba would play the tabla. It was so magical!”
